Alcoholism: The Great Myth

Alcoholism is the great myth. People everywhere will tell you that alcohol isn’t a drug. That it doesn’t ruin lives the way that cocaine or crystal meth do. Unfortunately these people are usually telling you this between drinks. Time for some honesty. Alcoholism is drug addiction. It ruins lives. It often has an even bigger impact than some illegal drugs because it can be found everywhere. This constant presence can often times make alcoholism one of the toughest addictions to defeat.

Phrases like “It’ not against the law” and “If it was really bad for you, they’d outlaw it” and thousands others like them are the crutches of the alcoholic. They say these things not because the believe them, but because they need the excuse. That is the advantage though of our addiction treatment program. There are no bars here. No alcohol available anywhere. No atmosphere of convenience allowing the alcoholics to fool themselves into thinking just one won’t hurt.

Our facilities offer a safe haven from the temptations of the world. They also offer a refuge from the stresses of the world. A place where the alcoholic can spend plenty of time away from life’s stresses. The stresses that often lead them to have the “one to unwind” when they finish their day. Sometimes even when they finish their lunch.

The first stage the addict will go through is detox. Our alcohol treatment facility can provide the care and observation necessary to get them through this difficult phase. Once the alcoholic works their way out of dependency and they can transition to recovery. The final stage of addiction treatment, aftercare, is essential. It is more important with alcohol abuse treatment than most other addictions. With alcohol so readily available upon leaving our addiction treatment facility, an easy place to turn for support is necessary.
